Positive Early Childhood Indicators on District Report Card

District report cards were released today. Cleveland Metropolitan School District has made important gains, especially in the early grades.

The K-3 literacy score increased by 13.7% over the prior year, raising the grade from an F to a C and the number of students on track in reading more than doubled from the previous year. 80% of CMSD third-graders met Ohio’s new, higher standard for reading and were promoted to the fourth grade.

There are other measures of progress not captured on the report card, such as increased parent engagement and improved attendance, which can be viewed at clevelandmetroschools.org/TrackOurProgress.

However, there is still work to be done to improve the district’s overall grade from an F. PRE4CLE is proud to be part of this ongoing work!
